New Jersey: A bulldozer decorated with posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was spotted in the US this week as India marked 75 years of Independence. The diaspora in New Jersey had celebrated the occasion with patriotic fervour, and visuals featuring the 'baba bulldozer' have since gone viral.
Several Indian leaders had attended various Independence Day programmes in the US, including BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra who shared pictures from New Jersey and Times Square. It is not clear whether they were present at this particular event.

Some including the Indian American Muslim Council and CAIR New Jersey however took a dim view of the situation, condemning the use of a bulldozer at the India Independence Day parade.
Marching with these symbolic bulldozers, they contended, were a show of support for "forced homelessness and mass violence against a vulnerable minority”. They also urged the Mayors of Edison and Woodbridge townships as well as New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin who joined the parade to "condemn these acts of hatred".
"Today, the Hindu right-wing in Edison, New Jersey marched with bulldozers, which have become a weapon in the hands of the BJP government to destroy Muslim homes and livelihoods," the IAMC tweeted sharing a photo.
With several states undertaking a slew of encroachment drives, bulldozers have now come to occupy a prominent space in the political discourse. CM Adityanath was dubbed 'bulldozer baba' earlier this year due to frequent references of his government deploying bulldozers to demolish the ill-gotten property of criminals and mafias in the state.
While the moniker was first introduced as a jibe by Opposition leaders and critics, it soon gained popularity among his supporters. Indeed, as Uttar Pradesh held Assembly elections and the BJP eked out a major win, many had opted to get bulldozer tattoos on their forearms.
