Mohammed Siraj had a fairytale start to his comeback to the Indian ODI side on Sunday (July 17) at the Old Trafford Cricket Stadium in Manchester. The 28-year-old gave India a phenomenal start by bowling a stunning double-wicket maiden over to put the hosts under massive pressure.
After skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first in the all-important 3rd ODI, Siraj was given the new ball alongside Mohammed Shami. Jason Roy gave the home side a brilliant start by smashing Shami for 12 runs with three glorious boundaries in the first over.
Siraj stunned the hosts with a phenomenal over that saw him dismiss explosive English Opener Jonny Bairstow and star batter Joe Root. Both were dismissed for ducks putting India on top in the game.

Siraj came into the playing XI after India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the game due to a back spasm. Bumrah's absence was a big blow as he was in sensational form having taken a record-breaking six-wicket haul in the first game of the series at the Oval to help India take a 1-0 lead in the series.
However, England bounced back strongly to win the second ODI at Lord's on Thursday (July 14). The Indian bowling put up a solid performance with Yuzvendra Chahal leading the way with a four-wicket haul. However, the Indian batting collapsed as the hosts registered a massive 100-run win and set the series up for a nervy decider.
Prior to this game, Siraj had played just 4 ODIs for India. He made his debut against Australia in 2019 but did not play a 50-over game for three years after that before coming back to the side for a three-match home series against West Indies earlier this year.
