Some relationships are so beautiful that they make a home in our hearts. And one such relationship is that of Bollywood veteran actors Anupam Kher and actress Kirron Kher, who have been there for each other for the past 37 years. But, what sets them apart, is these two were best friends from their theatre days and have all our hearts.
As actress Kirron Kher turns a year older today, the husband-son of duo Anupam and Sikander Kher took to Instagram and shared a carousel of pictures while wishing her the happiest birthday. Coming from a Punjabi family, Kirron made her debut with J. Om Prakash’s 1983 film Aasra Pyaar Da.
Since then, she has enthralled audiences with brilliant performances in films such as Rang De Basanti, Veer Zaara, Dostana, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Main Hoon Na, and Mangal Pandey and more.
Meanwhile, we decided to go back in time to when actress Kirron talked about their love story and how they started off as close friends and were married to different people. While talking about the same, she went on to share how their relationship even saw some bad patches when they were in financial debt due to Anupam’s production company which didn’t start on a good note.
On being asked if strained their relationship, the Om Shanti Om star expressed, “It did. But I learnt a lot. I call a spade a spade, I am very straight, don’t mince words. He does not like criticism, so when I told him what he had done wrong, he could not take it.”
In addition, she told First Post, “He likes to be liked and loved; he takes criticism as being not loving. But I am a wife, not a concubine, to keep saying you are the best….so there was a strain. I realised this trait about him much later in life.”
However, their relationship became sturdier when Kirron was diagnosed with cancer, and after a tough fight, she battled the disease away.
We wish Kirron Kher a very happy birthday and an amazing year ahead!
