Google Nest updates: New Nest Doorbell, Nest Wifi Pro, New Google Home app and seamless connectivity with Matter

Google has announced a host of new updates to its Nest line of IoT products today, a few days ahead of its 'Made by Google' event. The new products launched today include a new Nest DoorBell (2nd Gen), new Wifi Pro router and a redesigned Google Home app.

The new 2nd generation Nest Doorbell loses the battery power from the last generation and comes in a wired configuration, with the ability to record 24x7. The outgoing model could only had limited recording capability. Using the Google Home app, users can have access to Live View and surf through past recordings. The new Nest Cam has gone through a weight loss program it seems as the device is 30% smaller than the previous model.

Nest Doorbell (2nd Gen, Wired) is priced at $179 and will be available in four colorways - Snow, Ash, Linen and Ivy.

Nest WiFi Pro brings with it full Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, quite a jump from Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) available in the earlier models. Wi-Fi 6E is also two times faster than Wi-Fi 6, However Wi-Fi 6E is fairly new and less devices support this standard as of now. "Nest Wifi Pro is built to constantly analyze your network performance and optimize your connection to keep it fast and avoid congestion. And it knows how to prioritize high-bandwidth activities like video calls and streaming." says Google, "One router has the power to cover up to 2,200 square feet alone."

Matter compatible - "Shortly after Matter, the new smart home protocol, launches, you'll be able to use your Nest Wifi Pro router as a Matter hub, too. It will control and connect to all your Matter-enabled devices, making it that much easier to manage and add devices to your smart home in the future."

Nest Wifi Pro will be available in four color tones Snow, Linen, Fog and Lemongrass and will retail at $399.99 for a three pack, covering up to 6,600 square feet. It’s also available at $299.99 for a two pack or $199.99 for a one pack to accommodate homes of all sizes. It will be available online and in stores October 27, with pre-orders beginning October 4.

The Google Home app, that controls all things Google gets a refresh. The new app arrives on WearOS as well ahead of the Google Pixel Watch launch later this week. The WearOS app will allow users to interact with Nest devices like switch on and off lights, view live feed from cameras adjust the thermostat right from their wrist. The New app also gets a host of customization features for Nest Devices and more.

The new app on iOS and Android will be available first to users in our Public Preview program in the next few weeks.
