BO update: Vikrant Rona outperforms many dubbed Hindi releases, Ek Villain Returns see mass pockets fare well

Kichchca Sudeep's multilingual Vikrant Rona and Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham starrer Bollywood flick Ek Villain Returns are the two films doing most business at the box office currently. While Vikrant Rona has managed to fare well in dubbed versions, Ek Villain Return has the advantage of no major releases this week. However, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan could give tough competition when they release on August 11.

Box Office report of Ek Villain Returns and Vikrant Rona

The two big movies going strong at theatres at present are Kichchca Sudeep's multilingual Vikrant Rona and Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham starrer Bollywood flick Ek Villain Returns. While both films have not made any major dent in Box Office sales, they have each held out on their own at ticket windows.
For starters, Kichcha Sudeep's Vikrant Rona has managed to fare well in the Hindi belt, with dubbed version doing better than many other similar South movies recently. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared, "#VikrantRona #Hindi performs much better than many *dubbed #Hindi films* released in the recent past... Thu 1.11 cr, Fri 93 lacs, Sat 1.52 cr, Sun 2.21 cr [revised], Mon 70 lacs, Tue 66 lacs, Wed 57 lacs, Thu 44 lacs. Total: ₹ 8.14 cr. #India biz. Note: HINDI version. NBOC."
In a separate tweet, he wrote, "#VikrantRona #Hindi enjoys an open run till Wednesday [10 Aug 2022]... Needs to gather momentum over the weekend mainly, because a major chunk of screens will be taken over by #LSC and #RB on Thursday. Note: HINDI version," hinting that the film does indeed need to pick up pace to create any major impact.

Similarly, Arjun Kapoor and John Abraham's Ek Villain Returns have seen mass pockets perform well, even though national chains underperform. Adarsh tweeted, "#EkVillainReturns is decent in Week 1... National chains underperform... Mass pockets fare well, but witness decline on weekdays... Fri 7.05 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 9.02 cr, Mon 3.02 cr, Tue 2.64 cr, Wed 2.07, Thu 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 32.92 cr. #India biz."

He further wrote that no major releases this week could actually prove beneficial for the film, adding, " It needs to perform over the weekend, although it gets only six [6] days in Week 2 to collect as much as it can, since #LSC and #RB arrive on Thursday [11 Aug 2022]."
For the unversed, both films will find stiff competition when Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan and Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha release on August 11.
