Burglar bride of Bhopal arrested after 15th marriage

Bhopal: A 32-year-old woman, who duped as many as 15 men in the past two years on the pretext of marriage, Seema Khan was arrested by Bhopal police, reported Navbharat Times.

The burglar bride had a big gang who used to change Khan’s identity and trap vulnerable men with promises of marriage. The woman, who is a mother to four children married 15 times in the past few years and decamped with their jewellery and cash.

Police started looking for the bride on the complaint of one Kanta Prasad Nath, who had filed a complaint in the police station against Khan and a few other people accusing them of fraud. According to Nath, one Hindu Singh from Bhopal connected with him when he was looking for a bride. Singh introduced him to one Dinesh Pandey, whose sister was eligible to be married.

The two men introduced Nath to Khan, who said her name was Pooja. Dinesh also asked for 85 thousand rupees from Nath for the wedding expenses, which they gave, Within eight days of marriage, Dinesh called asking for his ‘sister’ to return as he needed help with his wife’s surgery. However, once ‘Pooja’ left Nath’s home to go to her brother for her sister-in-law's surgery, she never returned.

She left with jewellery that Nath had given her during marriage and some cash too.

This is one of the 15 instances where Seema Khan alias Pooja duped her ‘husbands’ within 2-10 days of marrying them. She had several aliases which she used to avoid suspicion and tracing. She went by the names of Riya, Reena, and Sultana as well.

According to police, Dinesh used to give her 35,000 rupees for every marriage burglary she was involved in. There are several other women in the gang with Seema Khan. A total of 8 people from her gang have been arrested.
