Ever since it was announced that Alia Bhatt's production company Eternal Sunshine Productions has teamed up with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment to back Darlings, fans were eagerly looking forward to watching the movie. Starring Alia in the lead role, Darlings released on Netflix earlier this month and it has managed to impress the audience and critics alike.
Now, a report has stated that the movie will be soon remade in Tamil and Telugu languages. Darlings, which marked Alia's debut as a producer, also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew in the lead roles.
Talking about the remakes, Gaurav Verma, Producer and COO, Red Chillies Entertainment, told Pinkvilla, "We had the script of Darlings with us for a while now and through the journey of making it, we decided to make it in multiple languages."
"The film has a certain landscape which can be adapted very well in multiple languages. The process is on as we speak," he added.
Gaurav further shared that the story of the remakes remains the same, but they will localise it. "Darlings was a story set in Mumbai, but now, we will create a different world for Tamil and Telugu. We localise the characters and their reactions," he stated.
Meanwhile, even though a huge part of the audience has liked the movie, before it's release, the hashtag 'Boycott Alia Bhatt' was trending on Twitter. It so happened that a part of the audience apparently got offended and claimed that Alia is promoting violence against men in the movie. During the promotions of the film, Alia had also shared her thoughts on the 'cancel' culture and had said that we need to cancel 'cancel culture' and boycott the boycotts.
