As we wait for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to officially announce the launch of 5G services in India tomorrow, the Delhi airport has now become a 5G-enabled airport and flyers will be able to access faster data speed after the services are officially rolled out by telecom service providers.
Delhi International Airport Limited, the airport operator, has stated that passengers with a 5G-enabled mobile phone and a compatible SIM card will be able to experience perks that come with 5G such as improved signal strength, better connectivity, negligible latency and faster data speed.
5G services will be available at the domestic departure pier and the international arrival baggage area at Terminal 3 and between T3 arrivals and the multilevel car parking.
The deployment across Terminal 3 is set be covered in a phased manner. Additionally, the 5G network will also be available at the GMR square in Aerocity.
Users will be able to experience up to 20-times faster data speeds compared with the WiFi system or up to 50 times faster speeds over the existing data communication network.
“The 5G network will allow them quicker downloads, zero buffering during streaming, seamless execution of resource-intense applications like 3D gaming, virtual reality experience, extremely high-density connectivity, and extremely deep coverage in all areas,” said a DIAL spokesperson.
“The Delhi airport always remains ahead in bringing new-generation technologies to the passengers. To enhance their experience, we have built our own 5G infrastructure. The 5G network offers a faster speed and lower latency. At the airport, it will help improve connection density and enhance passengers’ experience. Passengers can experience unified signal strength, seamless connectivity, negligible latency, and unimaginable data speed,” said DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar.
