Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, DSEU on Wednesday hosted the first Industry day at India International Center. The event was a massive success as over 100 industry leaders from top-notch organisations marked their presence in the same. The event was organised to bring together experts from industry and academia and gather their views on incorporating industry needs into the higher education system.
The dignitaries from organisations like JLL, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC, Boston Consulting Group, Bank of Baroda, Macmillan, and Metropolis among others participated in the event and expressed their views on the engagement of Industry and Academia via a panel discussing on future of skilling.
DSEU in a communique shared that the panel discussion on Future of Skilling - Engagement of Industry and Academia witnessed participation from panelists including Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Co-Founder, Info Edge, Dr Alka Mittal, Former CMD, ONGC, Sanjeev Vashishta, MD & CEO, Path Kind Labs, Rajesh Pandit, MD, CBRE, Dr. Amit Karna, Professor of Strategy, IIM Ahmedabad.
The panelists shared their views on Universities as a talent hub and a catalyst for budding entrepreneurs, the role of industry in enriching the academic inputs (co-innovation, joint research, and product development), acceptance and expectations from diploma graduates and skilled graduates, the need of the University and Industry to train students in choice making, problem solving and readiness to invest in themselves.
The Vice Chancellor, DSEU, Professor (Dr) Neharika Vohra said, “ With industry linkages across all programs, our students are also focusing on holistic development as emphasised in the New Education Policy as well. I would like to extend gratitude to all our 80+ industry partners that share the vision of imparting relevant knowledge & skills to the youth and are supporting us in curriculum development, experiential learning, hands on learning, industry visits, and more”
The main motive of August 2020 established DSEU is to bring the requirements of the industry to higher education that trains youth, emphasizes their skills, and makes them ready for employment as per market needs. DSEU trains the students for jobs through embedded apprenticeships, internships, and interactions with industry partners.
