District administration of Panchkula, Haryana bans pitbull, rottweiler dogs amid rising dog attacks

Panchkula: The entry of dreaded dogs like pitbull and rottweiler has been banned in the Panchkula district of Haryana. In the general meeting of the Municipal Corporation, this resolution was passed under the chairmanship of the city Mayor, Dainik Bhaskar reported.
Now if dog lovers in the city keep these dreaded dogs in their homes, then they will have to pay a penalty of Rs 2000.
A provision has also been made for punishment for those who do not pay the penalty. However, no decision has been taken by the Municipal Corporation on what this punishment will be. Some officials of the municipal corporation said that soon a decision on punishment would also be taken.
Municipal Corporation Panchkula has passed this proposal along the lines of the Kanpur city administration’s decision. Both these breeds have been banned by the Kanpur Municipal Corporation after incidents of attacks by these breeds of dogs.
A provision of Rs 5000 penalty has also been made in Kanpur Municipal Corporation for keeping these two species of dogs in homes.
Pitbull and rottweiler breed of dogs are two of the most dangerous and aggressive breeds. Their weight is between 16 and 30 kg.
Many countries around the world have banned keeping these breeds of dogs because of their aggressive nature. Although pitbulls are still bred in many other countries including the US, they require better training to prevent them from becoming aggressive.
Most of the attacks happen when the pet owners do not understand the nature of their dogs and how to deal with their behaviour.
