Late legend Madhubala's sister Madhur Bhushan, in a recent interview, spoke about the actress and superstar Dilip Kumar's breakup. Recalling Dilip's fallout with their father, she said that their relationship ended only because of one sorry. "Madhubala would cry and tell Dilip saab, ‘Dekho humari zindagi barbaad ho jayegi’," Madhur said.

Legendary actress Madhubala was referred to as The Beauty with Tragedy. Superstar Dilip Kumar and her tragic love story is still remembered by fans. The couple, who were in a relationship for nine years, parted ways after Dilip's public fallout with his lady love's father. A heartbroken Madhubala had tried to convince her fiancé to not leave her, however, the actor couldn't put it behind him.
According to Madhubala's sister Madhur Bhushan, Dilip Kumar had told the actress "Leave your father and I’ll marry you."
In a recent interview, Bhushan once again recalled those days. Talking about how Madhubala was only trying to protect her father's image, she shared, "She (Madhubala) would cry and tell Dilip saab, ‘Dekho humari zindagi barbaad ho jayegi’ and Dilip saab would ask her, ‘Tum itni zidd kyun kar rahi ho?’. Apa would try to explain to him that Ataullah Khan was his would-be father-in-law, she was the would-be wife. She tried to say that Ataullah Khan was the one who made her Madhubala and after marriage, how could she break relations with that man. She couldn’t marry Dilip saab and watch the press speculate that Dilip saab took her away from a bad father."
"Marrying him under such circumstances would have meant that the daughter would’ve shown the father in a bad light. She was a good daughter and she could never do that to her father," she added.
After the much-talked-about breakup, Madhubala married Kishore Kumar 'out of stubbornness and anger' towards Dilip Kumar. The latter tied the knot with Saira Banu in 1966.
