Salman Khan has filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court to pass a restraining order against his Panvel farmhouse neighbour. The appeal has been filed against session court's order of not passing a restraining order against Khan's neighbour, NRI Ketan Kakkad.
The Tiger 3 actor has alleged in his plea that the videos made by his neighbour are not just defamatory in nature but are also communally provocative. He also added that the videos are made to create a communal divide and are communally biased.
Salman Khan's counsel, Ravi Kadam, argued that the session's court erred in its judgement. "The videos uploaded by Kakkad are blithely speculative. They were not only defamatory, but also communally provoked the viewers against Salman Khan," PTI quoted Mr Kadam saying.
"In the video, the defendant (Kakkad) compares Salman Khan to Babar and Aurangazeb. He (Kakkad) says it had taken 500 years for the Ayodhya Mandir (temple) to come up and here Salman Khan is trying to shut down a Ganesha temple," he was further quoted saying.
Salman Khan's counsel reasoned that such videos are watched by lakhs of viewers and it triggers viewers against the actor. He added that the videos have made everything appear to be about Hindu vs Muslims.
The counsel alleged that through his videos, Mr Kakkad has even alleged that Salman Khan is involved in drug trafficking, organ and child trafficking, which he runs from his farmhouse. On the other hand, the NRI neighbour, Mr Kakkad has alleged that the Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali actor wants to get a restraining order against him as he wants him to give up his Panvel land.
The matter will now be heard by a single bench judge, Justice CV Bhadang, in the Bombay High Court on August 22.
