Bengaluru crowd chants ‘RCB, RCB’ as Rajat Patidar enters to bat during Ranji Trophy final vs Mumbai - WATCH

In the summit clash of the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, Madhya Pradesh are up against 41-time champions Mumbai. The final match is currently underway at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and as per the current status, MP are on the brink of winning their maiden Ranji title. They have reached 401 for 3 in 132.4 overs in reply to Mumbai’s first innings total of 374. They have taken a vital first innings lead, which will be enough for them to win the premier domestic competition.
For the Aditya Shrivastava-led side, opening batter Yash Dubey (133) and number three batter Shubham S Sharma (116) set the stage, as the duo added 222 runs for the second wicket on the third day of play. And after Shubham’s departure, Rajat Patidar took the charge and made sure that MP stayed ahead of Mumbai.
The 29-year-old arrived at the crease as a number four batter in the 90th over of the innings when Mohit Avasthi got rid of Sharma and is still going strong. On Friday (June 24), when the right-handed batter was entering the field of play, fans gathered in Bengaluru’s iconic stadium started the chants of ‘RCB, RCB' to welcome the star batter.
The Indore-based cricketer was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore set-up in the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League and famously scored 112 not out from 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator clash of this year’s tournament.

RCB signed Patidar as a replacement player in the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league and the cricketer impressed with his show. In seven innings of eight matches, he scored 333 runs at an average of 55.50 and a strike rate of 152.75. Apart from his first IPL hundred against the KL Rahul-led side, the 29-year-old also scored two fifties, out of which one was against Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier.
