In 2022, two films have released around the Independence Day weekend. The first is Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha, the pfficial Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump. The other is Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer family drama Raksha Bandhan. Both films released on August 11.

Mission Mangal
The 2019 drama film released on I-Day and is loosely based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission, it stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi.
Gold
The 2018 film is a sports drama written and directed by Reema Kagti. Gold is based on the journey of India's first national hockey team to the 1948 Summer Olympics and follows Tapan Das, the man who won India its first gold medal in the same event. The film stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta.
Satyameva Jayate
The 2018 action crime film released on Independence Dat and was well received by the audience and broke various opening day records. The story follows vigilante Virendra "Veer" Rathod, who kills corrupt police officers.
Bhuj
The 2021 war film is set during the Indi-Pakistan War of 1971 and was released on an OTT platform on August 13. The film follows Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik — then in-charge of the Bhuj Air Force Base who, with the help of 300 local women, reconstructed the damaged landing strip in 72 hours. Ajay Devgn played the lead role.
Shershaah
The 2021 biographical war film on the life of Vikram Batra, martyred in Kashmir was released on 12 August.Sidharth Malhotra stars in dual roles as Batra and his twin brother Vishal, with Kiara Advani as his girlfriend Dimple Cheema.
