New Delhi: A parched kite crash landed at the residence of the Prime Minister on Tuesday due to dehydration. However, it was rescued and handed over to the Wildlife SOS, said the rescuers.
The black kite, meanwhile, is under observation and will be released into the wild once declared fit, said veterinarians as reported by The Times of India (TOI).
As per reports, some security personnel spotted the medium-size bird on the premises of the PM’s residence sitting on the ground and couldn’t fly. Later, the officials at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed the matter to rescuer on their helpline number.
Following the alert, a two-member rescue team from the Wildlife SOS reached the PM’s residence and first provided drinking water and hydrated the bird. Subsequently, the bird was transferred to a transit facility. The species is local to Delhi, reported TOI.
An NGO official said that the situation was not a complicated one. “Birds are generally seen on the ground due to lack of access to water, which ultimately causes dehydration. We thank the security personnel for alerting Wildlife SOS to this emergency,” the official added as quoted by TOI.
