As a tribute to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the two famous superstars of Indian cinema, Lyca Productions posted a masterfully made video clip using scenes from Thalapathy and Nayakan on social media today. The video, which debuted during the Ponniyin Selvan 1 audio launch and won over Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth's fans, has since gone viral on social media.
A Twitter user shared the video and wrote, “How will you top this edit tomorrow @LycaProductions. That’s going to be a even bigger task (Sic).” Another commented, “This is my whole childhood man (sic).”
Together, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have appeared in over a dozen movies, including Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu, Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum, and Ninaithale Inikkum. Later, they decided to quit working together. However, the clip is proof that the titans of Tamil cinema have consistently displayed decent comradery over the years.
To support Mani Ratnam and Ponniyin Selvan, the two luminaries came together for the audio launch. At the audio premiere, Rajinikanth spoke extensively, appreciating Amarar Kalki's work and expressing his eagerness to watch PS1. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan praised Mani Ratnam for safeguarding his goal and making it happen after all these years, even though he had initially wanted to direct Ponniyin Selvan himself.
On September 30, the two-part movie Ponniyin Selvan will be released in theatres. The Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada versions of the Tamil movie will also be released.
