Less than 24 hours after securing a sensational series victory over Australia after a nail-biting six-wicket win in the series decider at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, Team India have arrived in Thiruvananthapuram for the first game of the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
The Greenfield Stadium will host the series opener on Wednesday (September 28) before the team move to Guwahati and Indore to play the second and third games of the series on October 2 and 4 respectively. Thiruvananthapuram is a major city in the state of Kerala - which is the home state of Indian cricketer Sanju Samson.
Despite Samson not being part of the Indian team, it was his name being sung by fans around India's team bus as they travelled from the airport to the hotel. Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal shared special stories from the city for Samson and showed the fans incredible support for him.

The spin-bowling duo play under Samson's captaincy at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In both Ashwin and Chahal's debut season for the franchise in 2022, Samson led RR to the final of the competition for the first time since the inaugural season 2008.
Talking about Samson, he is currently leading the India-A team in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand-A. All three matches are taking place at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Under Samson's leadership, the Men in Blue have already sealed a series win by winning the first two games with the third and final match scheduled to take place on Tuesday (September 27).
Samson is more or less likely to return to the national team for the ODI series against South Africa as all players that are part of India's T20 World Cup squad will miss the series. Samson put up impressive performances in the ODI series against Zimbabwe and West Indies earlier this year.
