Karnataka shocker: Man slits wife’s throat in court premises, tries to kill his baby

Hassan (Karnataka): A man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat on the premises of a local court in Hassan district of Karnataka and also tried to attack his baby on Saturday. However, passersby intervened and saved the child from his father, police said.
The deceased woman has been identified as Chaitra, a resident of Thattekere village in Hassan district while the accused husband has been identified as Shivakumar from Holenarasipura taluka in the district.
The incident took place today on the premises of Holenarasipura town court, as per the IANS report.
Chaitra and Shivakumar have married seven years ago. However, the couple could not lead a cordial life and had filed a divorce petition before the court.
On Saturday, the couple was called to court for compromise. Shivakumar assured the court that he would bury differences with his wife for the sake of his two children as per the advice of the judge and advocate.
After agreeing to compromise, Shivakumar took his wife to the restroom and allegedly slit her throat. Later, he also attacked the child Chaitra was carrying. However, some people present at the spot restrained him and the baby was rescued.
Later, Shivakumar tried to escape after committing the crime but was chased and caught and then handed over to the police.
Though Chaitra was immediately rushed to Holenarasipura hospital and then shifted to Hassan District Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Police have started an investigation into the matter, reported IANS.
