Ranbir Kapoor to play 'larger-than-life' role in Shamshera, actor says 'I really wish my father was alive to see this'
Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Shamshera. The actor, in a recent interaction, shared that he wanted his father, Rishi Kapoor, to watch the film. The action entertainer also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.

For the last couple of weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been busy with the promotions of his upcoming films Brahmastra and Shamshera. While Brahmastra by Ayan Mukherji is set to release on September 09, 2022, Shamshera hits the big screens in less than a month.
The makers are promoting the action entertainer in full swing and fans are excited to see Ranbir in a different avatar. The actor is set to play a "larger-than-life" role in Shamshera, something he has not done before. His fans are eager to see what he brings to the screen.
Ahead of the release, the actor opened up about the role and said, "I definitely want to grow as an actor and a star and Shamshera definitely is a positive step towards that. You want to make films for a larger audience.
He shared that he's anxious about people's response to his new avatar but also excited as Shamshera is his one step towards connecting with a pan-India audience.
The actor further shared that he misses his biggest critic, father-actor Rishi Kapoor. The legendary star passed away on April 30, 2020, from leukaemia after he was admitted to Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
"I really wish my father was alive to see this film. He has always been blatantly honest about his criticism if he has liked something or not liked something, especially with my work. So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it," Ranbir said.

Coming to Shamshera, the film is directed by Karan Malhotra. It stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor in pivotal roles and their first looks were released earlier this week. The action drama is set to hit the theatres on July 22, 2022, and it will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
