Ahmedabad: On-street parking on Sindhu Bhavan Road will now be subject to a fee, according to the local civic authorities. According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) solicitation, the city will begin charging Rs. 5 per hour for two-wheeler parking and Rs. 15 for the first two hours for four-wheeler parking.
The financially precarious municipal organisation hopes to make Rs 21 lakh from this.
There is no imminent need to charge for on-street parking, according to sources in the AMC, as the majority of businesses and residences on Sindhu Bhavan Road have appropriate parking spaces.
According to the tender published by the estate division of the AMC's North West Zone, the starting bidder would receive a three-year contract with a base price of Rs 21.29 lakh.
According to the tender, the company would have access to 108 two-wheeler spaces and 428 four-wheeler spaces on a 3.25 km length of road known as Sindhu Bhavan Road, beginning at Pakwan Crossroads on SG Road. On October 7, the bids will be disclosed.
The civic organisation has also released five further bids for park management and on-street payment.
These contracts concern parking on the roads from Gujarat Vidyapith to the AMC pool, from Navrang Circle to Dadasaheb Na Pagla Crossroads, from Chirag Motors to the Madalpur Underpass on the left side of the road, from Shahwadi Canal to Vasna Party Plot on the right side of the road, and from Bhuyangdev to Vivekanand Circle in Memnagar.
