New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday wrote to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena alleging toll tax scam of Rs 6,000 crore in the MCD and demanding a probe by the CBI into it.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) collided with two toll tax companies and caused huge loss to the public exchequer.
“I have written to the LG demanding a CBI probe into the toll tax scam of Rs 6,000 crore in Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The money collected from commercial vehicles coming to Delhi everyday was embezzled in connivance,” Sisodia said in a tweet.
AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, who is party’s MCD in-charge, had on Tuesday alleged that BJP leaders who were then in power in the Delhi’s civic body and two private firms were involved in a large-scale scam in toll tax collection.
Pathak alleged that 10 lakh commercial vehicles come to Delhi every day and tax was collected from those vehicles but the MCD allegedly did get the money.
The MCD has rubbished the charges terming them as baseless and without facts.
