Mumbai: In a shocking incident that took place in Boisar town, a woman was shot dead by her boyfriend moments before he was crushed under a military truck while attempting to flee the scene. The victims were identified as Neha Mahato (21) and her boyfriend Krishna Yadav (25), reported news agency IANS.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when Neha and Krishna were having an extremely heated argument on the road close to a private hospital in Saravali. During the course of the argument, Yadav pulled out a revolver and shot Neha in the head from point-blank range, killing her on the spot, reported IANS.
Upon seeing shocked locals rushing towards them, Yadav panicked and tried to flee when a couple of hundred metres away he was knocked down and crushed under the wheels of the military vehicle. Though he was rushed to a local hospital by Boisar Police, he was pronounced dead upon arrival, reported IANS.
The Boisar Police have recovered the weapon from Yadav and have sent it for forensic analysis, and his autopsy report is awaited to ascertain if it was an accident or suicide. According to initial investigations it appears that Yadav and Neha had been in a steady relationship for over a year but Yadav was not willing to marry her while Neha's family had fixed an ultimatum for their marriage, failing which she was expected to marry elsewhere, reported IANS.
