Mike Tyson, one of the greatest boxers to have played the sport, has been turning up at tennis events and has also been photographed with some of the legends of the game, including Serena Williams. One of the most feared boxers of his generation, Tyson has been supporting his daughter Milan Tyson - who is pursuing tennis as a profession.
In order to support his daughter, Tyson has also developed an interest in tennis and has also gone on to watch Grand Slams.
When asked to pick a player who he admires the most among the active players, Tyson picked former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic - saying he likes the Serb's fighting spirit.
“Novak Djokovic is my favourite at the moment. If he is okay, I really like to watch him. He is my favourite because the way he has come back from injury and beaten guys like Nadal and Federer is amazing. He is a true fighter,” Tyson was quoted as saying by tennis365.com.
In a podcast recently, Tyson had spoken on how tennis has changed his family's life after he saw his daughter take interest in the sport.
“Our whole life has changed over tennis. I thought we were doing well and everything, and everything we were doing was making money, but that’s not bigger than my daughter playing tennis. She’s bigger than everything in our life now. I see her transcending into something she would never have before if she hadn’t got involved in tennis. She has confidence. At 11/12 years old, she has confidence in herself," he added.
Milan Tyson has held training sessions with Patrick Mouratoglou - who is the former mentor of Serena Williams and recently started coaching Simona Halep.
Tyson went on to praise her daughter's discipline and desire to follow her passion.
"She is disciplined in her own. She gets up, cooks her meals, takes a shower and goes to the gym every day at 7 or 8 am. She stays there until 4 pm. She is very diligent, and she wants to do this. I’m very proud to have someone in my family who understands that sometimes things don’t go your way. That’s what life is about, sometimes things don’t go your way and you handle your situations and misfortunes," he added.
