Bengaluru: In June, the Bengaluru metro reached the landmark of 5 lakh visitors for the first time since the pandemic started. Since the country was afflicted by the coronavirus two years ago, the foot traffic on public transportation has continued to be impacted.

According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). 5,07,450 people rode the Namma Metro on June 4, which is expected to be the highest number following March 2020.
The authorities said that the Namma Metro attained 99.98% operational efficiency in June in a newsletter. As the world's largest retailer of home furnishings, IKEA, established their first location near the Namma Metro's Greenline portion in Nagasandra, images of crowded metro stations recently became popular on social media.
Namma Metro's operations were suspended for about five months owing to the pandemic before they were resumed on September 7, 2020.
Later, restrictions during the second Covid wave in India and the widespread adoption of the work-from-home option by local enterprises severely impacted the profitability of this public transportation.
But according to the most recent data released by BMRCL, the Namma Metro appears to be on schedule.
