Pune: Two men set furniture store ablaze after one of them was laid off; arrested

Pune: In yet another shocking incident, two people were arrested for reportedly setting fire to a furniture store in Uruli Kanchan after one of them was recently terminated. According to officials, the fire caused significant damage to the shop.
The home furniture store in Bagade Mala of Uruli Kanchan was entirely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Monday, and an FIR was filed at the Loni Kalbhor police station, The Indian Express reported.
According to police, early evidence shows that the fire was intentionally set, not accidentally. Onkar Gaikwad, a worker at the shop who was recently terminated and is alleged to have turned to arson with the help of his associate Aniket Mote. Both of them have reportedly been arrested. The two were charged for violating IPC section 436. (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc.).
"Our inquiry reveals that the two men resorted to arson because one of them had been nursing a grudge since being sacked from the job," said senior inspector Rajendra Mokshi, who is in charge of the Loni Kalbhor police station.
"The store was heavily damaged, and nearly the whole premises where the furniture was displayed was gutted," senior inspector Rajendra Mokshi added.
