Agra Metro’s first look unveiled, here’s all you need to know about it

New Delhi: The first look of the Aerodynamic modular design of the new MOVIA train for Agra Metro Rail Project was presented on Monday by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) and Rolling Stock manufacturer Alstom Transport India. UP CM Yogi Adityanath digitally unveiled the first look of the train.
“The Metro coaches for Agra Metro are being manufactured in Savli, Gujarat. It is a big achievement in the direction of 'Make in India' initiative of Government of India. 87 coaches are to be delivered to the Agra Metro Rail Project i.e. 29 Rolling Stocks (Metro Trains) of 3 coaches each,” said Sushil Kumar, Managing Director, UPMRC.
These trains will have a designed speed of 90 kmph. With the objective of saving time and ensuring timely delivery of Rolling Stocks, UPMRC had done the integrated contract for Rolling Stock and Signaling for Kanpur and Agra Metro Rail Project.
CM Adityanath had on September 18 last year flagged off the first prototype train of the Kanpur and Agra Metro projects via video conferencing. The construction of the Agra Metro project was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in December 2020.

Route
The metro will act as a bridge between major tourist attractions like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikandra and city's other transport nodes like railway stations and bus stands. This will benefit the 3 million residents of Agra.
The metro will run on a 29.4 km long track and cover 27 stations across the city.
Features
With Aerodynamic modular design, the metros will offer a host of safety, security, and environmental benefits along with a great passenger experience. The train will come equipped with modern passenger information systems, automated sliding doors, comfortable seating and standing spaces, dedicated areas for entry of specially-abled, wheelchairs, to provide an accessible and welcoming environment for passengers.
It is built of light but strong stainless steel car bodies and the coaches will be fitted with CO2 sensor-based airconditioned system with a strong emphasis on eco-friendly design to eliminate hazardous substances.
Accommodation
Each train will be capable of accommodating about 960 passengers in a three-car configuration.
Meanwhile, Alstom is known for delivering world-class metro for major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow, and Kochi in India. Some of its other projects internationally include Sydney metro, Queensland metro, and Montreal metro.
