Recently, it was reported that actor Harish Roy, who played the role of Qasim Chacha in the film, is battling thyroid cancer.
The actor has opened up about his cancer diagnosis in an interview with a regional channel. He went on to share that he is suffering from grade four thyroid cancer. Harish, who has been a part of the industry for a long time, has also sought financial help from donors and actors to pay medical bills.
As per reports, Harish's monthly expenditure on tablets is around Rs 3 lakh and the actor has also undergone surgery.
Reports also state that the actor has been battling cancer for three years now. He even had swelling in the neck region while shooting for K.G.F, so he had kept a long beard to cover it up.
According to News18 he said, "Situations can bestow greatness upon you or take things away from you. There is no escaping fate. I've been suffering from cancer for three years. There is a reason I had a long beard when performing in K.G.F to cover up the swelling in my neck that this disease has created. I put off my surgery because I didn't have any money at first. I waited till the movies were released. Now that I'm at the fourth stage, things are becoming worse."
It is being said that many actors, producers, directors and other film celebrities from the Kannada film industry are coming forward to provide financial support to Harish.
Reportedly, during his interview, Harish was asked why he did not open up about his cancer diagnosis before. To this, the actor said that even though he knew his cancer was getting worse, he hid it because he was afraid that no one would give him opportunities in films.
Meanwhile, a sequel to K.G.F: Chapter 2 is in works. As per reports, producer Vijay Kiragandur had stated that K.G.F 3 will go on floors this October, and they are planning for a 2024 release.
