Delhi: There will not be any CNG supply in the national capital on Wednesday, August 10. CNG pumps will be closed and the sale has been stopped from 6 am to 10 pm today.
The Delhi Petrol Dealers Association announced the closure of the CNG sale citing that the reimbursement of the electricity bill of CNG pumps is not being done by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and is long overdue. To protest this, a decision to stop the sale of CNG for a day in Delhi has been made.
This shutdown will affect about 250 CNG pumps in the city along with the common people.
As per the pump dealers, the non-reimbursement of the electricity bills has been forcing them to incur huge losses every day as the pressure used to fill the CNG at the pumps takes up a lot of electricity.
IGL is responsible for paying the electricity bill for these pumps in Delhi but, there has been laxity on its part for a long time causing the dealers to suffer, says the association.
Moreover, the association has continuously demanded that the issue be resolved and a meeting with IGL was organised earlier this year, in March, to discuss the same.
After a lot of discussions over the reimbursement of bills in this meeting, the dealers were assured that the problem will be solved in a month. However, the bills have still not been paid.
Due to the non-fulfillment of their demands, the Dealers Association has declared August 10 as ‘No CNG Sale’ day.
The rate of CNG in the capital Delhi is currently at Rs 75.61 per kg.
