The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (September 12) selected the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. There have not been many surprises in the squad. The biggest positive coming out from the team selection has been the fact that both Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have returned to the squad from injuries. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi were left out to accommodate the two fast bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah had suffered a back injury in preparation for the Asia Cup and was ruled out of the continental tournament as a result. This was a big blow to the Indian team since, the right arm pacer is undoubtedly the best bowler for them across all formats. His exploits in the death overs was especially missed in both crucial Super Four games vs Pakistan and Sri Lanka, where they gave away lots of runs at the back end, and ended up losing both and being knocked out of the tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah on February 13th posted a video on his Instagram where he was seen preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in October. In the video, he can be seen bowling with full force in the nets, while also sweating it out in the gym. He accompanied the video with the caption, "Work and you’ll get what you need; work hard and you’ll get what you want."

Jasprit Bumrah's presence will be a big boost for India at the T20 World Cup. The fast bowler has played an integral part with the Men in Blue since making his debut in 2016. In 58 T20I matches he has picked up 69 wickets at an economy rate of just above 6.
In addition to playing the T20 World Cup, Bumrah will also feature for India in the T20I series against Australia, but will be rested alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the T20I series against South Africa.
