Ghaziabad: Domestic help who struck at around 100 houses arrested, used to travel by air for burglaries

Ghaziabad Police said they have recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh from the possession of the accused Poonam Shah alias Kajal. The woman burglar faces at least 26 criminal cases in NCR.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police have managed to arrest a woman, who is accused of theft at around 100 houses in different cities across the country. The accused has been identified as Poonam Shah alias Kajal, a resident of Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
The woman worked as domestic help at various places and committed theft at the houses of her employer. She even built a house in the national capital Delhi after allegedly using the proceeds of the crime.
The police claimed she targeted at least 100 houses in various cities including Delhi, Jodhpur, Kolkata and Ghaziabad. The woman used to steal gold ornaments from her employers. The woman burglar faces at least 26 criminal cases in National Capital Region districts alone, according to a report in PTI.
Kajal was arrested from Amrapali village society on the basis of CCTV footage. A complaint was filed by one Vipul Goel whose house was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh allegedly by his domestic help Kajal.
Police also recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 3 lakh from the possession of the accused Kajal, who is in her late thirties, said Indirapuram Circle Officer Abhay Mishra.
