Bengaluru: A 35-year-old tutor brutally thrashed a class 10 student with an iron pipe injuring his head at a coaching centre near Bengaluru’s Yelahanka recently. The accused tutor identified as Vijay Kumar was arrested by the police.
Vijay Kumar was arrested under Juvenile Justice Act and section 324 of IPC (voluntarily causing hurt) based on the complaint of the boy’s parents and later released on station bail, reported The Times of India (TOI).
The 15-year-old boy's mother alleged that Kumar beat up her son on August 6.
"At around 5.30 pm on August 6, Kumar hit my son on his head with an iron pipe causing a deep injury. Though my son was bleeding profusely, Vijay kept him at the tutorial till 8.30 pm. He didn't alert us about the injury. When we learned about the incident later, we questioned him but he abused us," the victim’s mother said in her complaint as reported by TOI.
The accused tutor on the other hand said that he did not want to hurt anyone. “After their classes were over by 5 pm, I asked them to go home and not stand outside. Despite my instructions, some boys were seen loitering outside the centre. When I asked what they were doing, they replied arrogantly,” said Kumar adding that he wanted to threaten the boys by swaying the iron rod but never intended to beat them.
