  • Deepti Sharma's clever thinking completed the win
  • India secured a 3-0 series victory
Jhulan Goswami's final international game ended on a high note for the legendary player after Deepti Sharma's incredible run-out sealed an incredible 16-run victory for India at Lord's. As a result of the win, India completed a historic whitewash and registered a 3-0 series victory against the hosts.
After it looked like India were heading for a big win, a sensational win for Charlie Dean put the home side on the brink of a win. However, Deepti's street smartness worked wonders for the Women in Blue as she caught Dean almost half-way down the crease and completed the run-out.
England pacer Stuart Broad was quick to react to the incident and led reactions from across the cricket fraternity. Broad was unhappy with the manner in which the match ended but faced backlash for the same from plenty of cricket fans and ex-players as the cricket fraternity was divided with their opinions. Ravichandran Ashwin backed Deepti after being involved in a similar incident a few ago with English batter Jos Buttler in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

Recently, a new rule change from the International Cricket Council had changed 'mankading' from unfair play to run-out. The move was aimed at legitimizing the dismissal although it has been legal for a long period of time.
"The new Playing Conditions list the act of a bowler attempting a run out at the non-striker’s end under the ‘Run Out’ section (Law 38). Previously, this was listed under ‘Unfair Play’ (Law 41)," said ICC in their updated regulations.
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur strongly defended Deepti Sharma and reminded the audience that nothing she did was against the rules.
"I thought you will ask about the first 10 (9) wickets, that were also tough to take. I don't think it was wrong. It's in the ICC rules. I will back my player 100 percent. What I think, it shows awareness from the player," said the Indian captain in the post-match presentation.
