For Volkswagen India 2022 has been a transformative year that pushed not just new models in the range but also in the sense of sales and business growth. Slashing its way out of the gloomy outlook of the industry not very long back, the German auto giant has registered quite a sensational response for its new India 2.0 models (Virtus and Taigun) both of which have managed to make a dent in the respective segments. And with this year's festivities, the company is looking forward to new sales records and growing its market share in one of the toughest, yet promising car markets in the world. Here is how the company responded to Times Drive's queries about the campaigns it has curated for this year's festivities.

What special offers are being curated on VW cars seeing the approaching festivities?

Festivities are an important part of our campaigns, and it gives us the opportunity to further connect with our consumers and be a part of their celebrations. We started this festive season, on a very positive and optimistic note, celebrating the first day of Chingam and Onam festivities through a mega delivery program, delivering 175 cars to customers in Kerala on a single day. Further, celebrating the zeal of festive season, we have initiated regional-level campaigns for customers across markets on the occasion of Dussehra, Navratri and Diwali festival.

Are there any special edition models in the pipeline for the festive season this year?

This festive season has truly been a time of celebration for us, as we commemorate one successful year of one of the most awarded SUV – the Volkswagen Taigun in India. Ushering in the festive fervour, we have launched the celebratory First Anniversary Edition of Taigun. With the introduction of the celebratory First Anniversary Edition, we would like to thank our valued customers for choosing us as a Brand of Choice for their mobility. The Bold, Dynamic and German-engineered Taigun special edition is offered on the Dynamic Line, Topline variant available on the 1.0 TSI MT and AT. It adorns a sportier look by flaunting its“1st” anniversary badging across the exterior and interior of the Taigun. Besides this, the Taigun First Anniversary Edition comprises of 11 specially developed elements including high lux fog lamps, body-colored door garnish, black C-pillar graphics, black roof foil, door-edge protector, black ORVM caps, window visors along with aluminum pedals. The one year also marks introduction of brand new color in the line-up of Taigun, Rising Blue.

Also, when do you intend to electrify your portfolio in India? Especially, when the competition has already paced up.

Globally, the Volkswagen brand is leading the e-mobility transition. However, the development of EVs requires a 360° planning and right now we are in the process of building it. We have just started testing of the ID.4 GTX to understand the viability for the market. However, this testing doesn’t mean we will be launching the car in 2023.
