Meerut: The Meerut police on Monday solved the Deepak Tyagi murder case and arrested two men in connection with the incident. The investigation team also recovered the severed head of the victim -- five days after his headless body was found in a sugarcane field. The murder weapon was also recovered by the investigation team.
According to the police, the victim's illicit relationship with the married daughter of one of the accused led to the murder. The arrested duo have been identified as Faimidu Nat and Asif.
Deepak Tyagi had developed illicit relations with Faimidu's married daughter, the police said. The accused conspired to kill Deepak after the two were found in an objectionable situation.
"Deepak was murdered using a sword. His severed head was found at a place located around five kilometres away from the field where his body was recovered. The accused men carried out the crime with the intention that the investigating officers will not be able to identify the victim," SSP Meerut Rohit Sangwan told the press.
According to the police official, Deepak Tyagi was inebriated during the time of the murder.
"An intoxicated Deepak was resting near a tubewell in the village at night when the accused men attacked him," he said. Both the accused have been booked under Section 302 of the IPC (Punishment for murder), SSP Sangwan added.
It was on the morning of September 27 that the headless body of a young man was found in the Parikshitgarh area of Meerut. Based on a complaint by the victim's family, the Meerut police registered a case against unidentified men and began investigation.
