Jalgaon double murder case: Woman’s mother found to be ‘main conspirator’, say cops

Jalgaon: A few days after a minor boy allegedly strangulated his sister and reportedly gunned down her lover, police found the girl’s mother to be the ‘main conspirator’ behind the alleged crime. The mother of the girl was arrested on Monday for reportedly being the principal conspirator behind the double murder.

The incident was reported from Maharashtra’s Jalgaon, where a minor boy along with four others allegedly strangled his 20-year-old sister to death and allegedly shot down her lover. Surprisingly, after the 17-year-old boy reached the nearest police station and surrendered himself. He also gave police the weapon used in the alleged crime, The Indian Express reported.

As a result, a total of eight persons have been arrested, while two juveniles have been detained for being involved in the alleged murder.

Police said that the accused did not like the woman’s relationship with the deceased, who belonged to a different caste, The Indian Express reported.

Police had identified the woman’s deceased lover as Rakesh Sanjay Rajput. The incident occurred late Friday night when one of the accused saw the lady with Rajput near their home.

According to a police officer, "At about 8 pm, the relative discovered the couple together and brought them home. All five suspects were present at the residence. Despite their opposition, the man and lady remained adamant about their relationship... Rajput was under the influence of alcohol and kept insisting that he wanted to marry her… As a result, they assaulted him at his home."

“The five then forced the couple in a car and drove them to a secluded place on the Jalgaon-Varad road boundary. Following this, the 17-year-old minor boy pulled out a revolver and shot Rajput dead. The five made sure the woman saw her partner dead before strangling her with a cloth," the officer said.

The 17-year-old teenager went to the police station with the weapon and surrendered shortly after the incident on Friday. He informed police that he and four others had murdered the couple, The Indian Express reported.

A police unit was dispatched to the scene, and the remains were found in a drain on Varad Road. Their bodies were sent to the city civil hospital, where they were both confirmed dead.
