Pune: To fix potholes and improve the state of the roads after a week of heavy rain, the city council of Pune has appointed 35 teams.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has established two more helplines for reporting potholes in the city, and the municipal government has urged residents to call these numbers.
VG Kulkarni, head of the PMC’s Road department, said, “We have appointed the teams for repairs. Besides, our repair vans have also been pressed into service and ward-level authorities have been instructed to initiate the repairs.”
Meanwhile, two more helpline numbers have been set up by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for pothole complaints in the city and the municipal administration has appealed to the citizens to contact these numbers.
234 potholes were discovered during the administration's survey on Friday, and as of right now, 139 of them have been filled. The collapsed chamber has been raised at 18 locations and the accumulated water has been emptied at 14 locations, according to the Municipal Corporation's Road Department.
Large potholes are present on the roads as a result at numerous significant intersections. The pre-monsoon construction on numerous roadways has been compromised. The trenches in these roads were not properly maintained after construction for the same water system and drainage channels throughout the city, and as a result, the chambers have collapsed in many places.
The city's traffic has been negatively impacted, and there are also more accidents now. However, the Municipal Corporation was unable to fix these roads because it had been raining nonstop in the city.
