Manchester United finally got off the mark in the Premier League 2022-23 edition after suffering losses in their first two games as they beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday. United had gotten off to a horror start under the new manager Erik Ten Hag, but the Dutch would be relieved more than anything else to have some points on the board.
A starting XI without Cristiano Ronaldo, Man Utd saw their first goal from Jadon Sancho in the 16th minute and Marcus Rashford made the lead 2-0 in the 53rd as the home fans, despite the protest in the wake of a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Brentford, started feeling like they would have the first points in the kitty. Even though Mohammed Salah did try his best to open the scoring for Liverpool, but it took place in the 81st minute and was probably one too late.
The Dutch manager, naturally excited, was visibly pumped up after recording his first win with the Red Devils. However, in excitement, he went a little overboard, dropping the f-bomb on a live broadcast while being in an interaction with the host broadcaster Sky Sports.
“It’s all about attitude. As you see, we bring attitude to the pitch. There was communication. There was fighting spirit.
“You can see what they can achieve because they can f*****g play football!” Ten Hag said.
Sky Sports presenter David Jones quickly took the matter into his own hands and apologised immediately saying, “Sorry for the language if there was a little F-Bomb dropped in there we do apologise.” However, former United captain Gary Neville enjoyed the same as he shared a laugh with former teammate and captain Roy Keane and former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher on Sky's Premier League panel.
United with the win moved up to the 14th place after Monday's win.
