Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh): The video clip of a girl walking home naked from the neighbouring village after she was allegedly gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district had sent shockwaves across the country. However, the girl's father has come forward with the claim that his daughter was not raped. The man has also filed an FIR against his brother-in-law for filing a false complaint of rape.
According to the girl's father, his mentally-challenged daughter ventured outside their house without any dress. His brother-in-law purposefully shared the CCTV footage of the incident on social media to defame the family, he alleged.
Based on the man's complaint, the police have booked the girl's uncle under sections 500 (defamation), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and Section 67 of the IT Act.
The accused uncle and his wife, however, maintain that the father of the girl is trying you conceal the rape allegation as the local pradhan's son was named an accused.
Earlier, it was reported that the girl was stripped and gang-raped on September 1 when she had gone to attend a fair in the neighbouring village. The matter came to the light after a video clip of the girl walking without clothes was posted on social media recently.
Based on the complaint of the girl's uncle, a case was registered and four youths from the neighbouring village were booked for the crime.
However, out of the four accused, only one was picked up by the police.
“A man had lodged an FIR at Bhojpur Police Station regarding the rape with his niece on September 7. When we started investigating the matter, the parents of the girl refused any such incident with their daughter. Despite this, a probe was conducted” the Superintendent of Police (Rural), Moradabad had said.
