New Delhi: An incident of Pakistani reporter, Maria Hashmi, slapping a kid who was disturbing her while doing her job has gone viral and leaving social media divided. While some were enjoying the sheer act of frustration transformed into a slap, others justified it by saying that she was in the right.
“I just know she was in the right too,” said a Twitter user. “A deserving slap,” said another.
Some were quick to make memes out of it, “This is my mom after ending the call with rishtedaar and hitting me,” wrote a user while quoting the video.
On the other hand, some said that she didn’t have any right to slap the boy.
While social media may have been divided on the validity of the slap in itself, everyone agreed that when it comes to dealing with unruly mobs, Pakistani reporters have it the worst.
Another video that made us laugh out loud a couple of years back was the infamous “anday wala burger” moment. It was a time when a reporter was preparing to give his piece to camera when people surrounded him and started ordering “anday wala burger” to tease him and disturb him while reporting.
Frustrated, the reporter finally exploded asking if the people had any “tameez” at all, and the unruly mob said, they were wearing their “kameez”. The reporter’s day was spoiled but the internet’s day was made when the video went viral, in fact, some people also compare the latest video of Hashmi, with that of “anday wala burger”.
However, whenever there will be a discussion on Pakistani reporters disturbed by passersby, Chand Nawab’s name will be taken among the top viral videos.
Known for botching his lines on TV, Nawab’s video got so popular that a similar scene was enacted in Bollywood star, Salman Khan’s film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan as well, where actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui played the role of an annoyed reported at the railway station.
With an intention to encash the popularity, by auctioning his video as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) at a minimum price of 20 Ethereum tokens, which at that time roughly translated to $63,604.20 (Rs 46,74,700 approximately).
There have been more such incidents where Pakistani reporters lost their cool on camera, entertaining the masses.
